Our
annex, the Andrew’s House, opened officially in 2002. This historic home was
donated to the Society by the Andrews family. The home was originally a mill
house on Atsena Otie.
Andrews
House contains exhibits of the Florida Peninsula Railroad, which operated from
1861 to 1932 between Fernandina on the east coast and Cedar Key. There is also a
display of the equipment used in the manufacture of the Donax whisk brooms from
palm fiber, by the Standard Manufacturing Company owned by the Andrews family.
