It was standing room only at Saturday’s successful auction at the historic Island Hotel here in Cedar Key. A number of factors contributed to this success, the foggy weather, the historic setting, good publicity, an outstanding auctioneer, the diverse array of biddable items, the generosity of the innkeepers, the Bairs, and tireless volunteer efforts.

The
auction was held as part of a series of fundraising events to benefit the
Lutterloh building that houses our museum. The Lutterloh is presently in a
critical care crisis, and resuscitation can only begin when the funds become
available to proceed with necessary rehabilitation.
Saturday’s
auction brought us $5,615 closer to realizing our goal of $50,000. All this
could not be achieved without the unstinting support of our members and friends.
We especially want to acknowledge the Island Hotel’s Stanley & Andy Bair
for providing the setting for the auction and their continued support of the
Society and its projects. We also wish to thank all the wonderful people who
donated many items of worth that assured a successful outcome.
